What we collect

Page requests create limited operational logs even when you decline optional analytics. These logs include the request time and ID, page path, access outcome, signed-in status, a broad device category and a daily changing visitor ID derived from IP address and browser details. They can also include selected direction and location choices or the referring site. This page log does not store your raw IP address or full referrer. It also excludes search text. Some public actions use IP-based counters to limit repeated requests.

If you choose Use my location, gainful.work uses a position rounded in your browser once to find a nearby US city and keeps only the city and state.

If you opt in, gainful.work separately records pages you visit and key actions you take in the app. That optional activity record can include your IP address for approximate location, plus device and browser details. You can change this choice in Account.

We also store the data you put into gainful.work to make it work - your resume, job searches, applications, and messages. That is separate from the analytics described here.

Application answers you submit. When you use the Apply Companion to submit an employer form, the receipt stores the answers you provided. This can include voluntary demographic answers if you chose to provide them. Some prior generic answers can be suggested for a later form, with review required before use. Sensitive and employer-specific answers are not reused across employers by the generic answer bank. You can review or change saved answers in Application details. Submitted receipts remain part of your application record.

Why we collect it

To diagnose problems, understand how the demo is used, and improve it. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who can see it

Operational request logs and optional activity analytics are visible only to the gainful.work operator. Your application answers are not shown to other users.

Your choices

In-app activity analytics only happens if you opt in. You can change your mind at any time in Account. Declining stops new in-app activity analytics. Limited operational request logs continue. To request deletion of data already collected, contact privacy@gainful.work.

Backups

We back up the database and your saved documents every night. Nightly backups stay on our server for 14 days and in off-site storage for 90 days. After that they are deleted.

When you delete your account, it is erased from the live service 30 days later. Until then you can change your mind.

Older backups may still hold your data until they expire on the schedule above. If we ever restore a backup, we erase every deleted account again before the service comes back online.
